Baron Lionel Walter Rothschild, shown here with his Zebra carriage, which “he rode to Buckingham Palace to demonstrate the tame character of Zebras to the public” [Wikipedia]. He is always referred to us as being shy and weird and not caring for anything other than his weird experiments.
But that’s all just fluff, Walter Rothschild was very much involved in all the century-shaping upheavals during his time. Riding exotic animals including Zebras and pre-historic tortoises is what he used to do for fun when he was bored.
